Gigla Agulashvili was born on May 25, 1964. He holds the position of the Minister of Environment and Natural Resources Protection of Georgia since May, 2015. Mr. Agulashvili graduated from Tbilisi State University, where he studied from 1983 to 1990 and earned Master’s Degree in laws. After graduating, he was employed as an investigator of Sagarejo Regional Prosecutor’s Office in 1990-1994. Thereafter, he worked as an investigator of high priority cases of chief prosecutor’s Investigation Board of Georgia in 1994-1997 and in 1997 was promoted to the Deputy Head of Chief Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia. He served as the prosecutor of Kakheti Region and Didube-Chughureti district of Tbilisi in 1991-2001. He was awarded the “Medal of Honor” for his high professionalism and huge contribution in strengthening of the rule of law in 1997. Mr. Agulashvili was the Head of Firearms Registration and Fund Department in the Ministry of Justice in 2003-2004. Later, from 2005 to 2012 Gigla Agulashvili became the Executive Secretary of the Republican Party. After 2012 elections, Gigla Agulashvili became the member of the parliamentary fraction ’Georgian Dream’ and served as the Chairman of Agrarian Issues Committee.
