BACKGROUND

First ever Georgia International Maritime Forum was founded in 2016 under the initiative of the Government of Georgia in order to reflect the world maritime initiatives and promote Georgia as a maritime nation throughout the globe and to boost common values Georgia shares with international maritime community. The idea of GIMF itself was introduced on 29th Assembly of International Maritime Organization by the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia. It was there and then, that 170 member states of International Maritime Organization were invited to attend the first international Maritime Forum in Batumi.

The Forum is not simply a biennial event but it’s an ongoing project, with an objective to bring together high level officials and representatives of maritime sector from different regions and countries aroundthe globe.
