Capt. Mamuka Akhaladze was appointed as the Director of Maritime Transport Agency of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia in 2012.Capt. Akhaladze is theIMO Maritime Ambassador to Georgia, Member and Representative of The Nautical Institute in Georgia, Member of the International Federation of Shipmaster's Association and Member of Georgian Masters Association. Prior to his appointment as the Director of national maritime authority of Georgia he has served as the Deputy Director of MTA and the Head of Flag State Control and the Ships Registration Department.

Capt. Akhaladze has the extensive sea going, including master-mariner experience on ocean going vessels for more than 12 years and holds the Masters degree from the Batumi State Maritime Academy
